I went to the farmers market in Lion’s Head this morning. The market was an initiative of local high school students as a school project. Their belief in the need to support the local economy, and to eat local, drove them. They had the usual challenges with the health authorities, and had to coax the municipal council to allow them to use the beach pavilion, but they triumphed in the end. (more…)
I am finally getting caught up on some reading, and read the World Without Us, by Alan Weisman. It is an outstanding book.
The Toronto Star recently reported that electricity demand in Ontario so far in 2008 on a temperature adjusted basis was 1.2% lower than a year ago. This has profound implications on the future supply requirements for the province.
Production from the Ferndale and Ravenswood wind farms showed a big divergence in June and July. There is no better demonstration of the value of geographic dispersion of wind farms than these two months.
