I attended a conference sponsored by the Canadian Wind Energy Association in London on Tuesday.  The most interesting presentation was made by Tom McLaren, or Stakeholder Strategies, who commisioned a study on public attitudes towards wind energy.

There is an 480 MW offshore wind project proposed in Nantucket Sound. The project been controversial, and has had huge challenges in obtaining permits to build. Cape Wind, Money, Celebrity, Class, Politics and the Battle for Our Energy Future on Nantucket Sound is a book that describes the challenges. What a page turner!

Damn.  I wanted to pass the 10,000,000 kWh mark at the end of May for the 7 months begining Nov 1, 2006.  I like round numbers.  The wind farm missed it by 12,000 kWh.  The wind died in the last day or two of May. (more…)
